Meet people
Working remotely, you won't meet anyone at the office. These are the groups where Gold Card holders, founders and remote developers in Taipei actually meet.
-
Gold Card Community
The holders’ own community. Volunteers run chat groups for questions and a monthly After Work at a rotating Taipei bar or café, usually on the second Thursday. Joining the chat requires a Gold Card.
-
Hackapei
A day of coworking for people building their own products. Intros at 10, optional lunch, demos at 5:15, drinks after. It meets at cafés and coworking spaces near the MRT. You ask to join first. It isn’t aimed at freelancers or client work.
-
TaipeiDev
Casual meetups, tech talks and coworking sessions for developers who work in English. Joining is free.
-
Day 1
A coworking space three minutes from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall MRT, with a NT$400 day pass. Its events page lists meetups such as Ruby Jam and monthly networking drinks. Some events are in English, some in Mandarin.
-
Ivy Startups
A newsletter on Taiwanese startups expanding abroad. It also lists the startup events worth going to.
-
Talent Taiwan events
The government’s office for foreign professionals runs career talks, job fairs and Gold Card briefings, often at universities.
Install LINE before you arrive. Most groups here, and most of Taiwan, organise themselves in LINE chats.
